Only 180 days left to get this body into shape for the beaches of Sri Lanka (and to show off in front of any of A's old girlfriends we may run into).  I am starting yoga on Monday - finally! - and my boot camp on Friday.  Unfortunately I'm not as fortunate as Annie, meaning I have to rely on Billy Blanks but you know what, that's alright with me.  I like doing things in the comfort of my own home.  I used his old Tae Bo tapes a long time ago and got the best stomach after a month and half, so I'm hoping similar results will happen this time.  Only when I was doing that a few years ago, I was drinking less.  I'm cutting down my drinking, but it's still too much.  :/  I'm going to start with the DVD this Friday, but I'm not planning on doing any more than once a week until I can feel good about doing it.

So I need y'all to hold me accountable!

In other news, work SUCKED.  Some people just do not get it.

My summer course #1 ends Thursday - thank goodness!

Smooth Criminal - love the chorus, especially.

Even Iranian football players are defying Ahmadinejad.

Asthika and I were talking about starting a log/blog and getting through the 1000 Places You Must See Before You Die.  We may just begin in Sri Lanka - two of the places on the list are there, and we'll be there later this year... so it's not such a bad idea.  Blogging about it will be fun, too. Maybe we can get sponsorship like Matt in Where the Hell is Matt?

I just love that video.  My favorite dance scenes are the demilitarized zone, Mali, and when everyone runs together to join him in Spain.

.

A lot of schoolwork due.  But surprisingly not feeling overwhelmed, but rather - have everything under control.  Yeah!

The missing Air France flight scares the shit out of me.  Especially since I fly every month and half.

So Iowa is more socially progressive than California, eh?  I don't want to hear anymore about "backwards middle America."

Bye London (for now), hi Montreal.  Flight leaves in 5 hours, why am I still in pajamas, and unpacked?

All the stress that went out the window came rushing back on Sunday evening when I finally listened to my voice mails from work.  I had one from early last week after I left from one of my managers, pretaining to a reservation that was for this past Thursday.  I won't go into the details, but now it seems I'm back on thin ice.  I just spent $500 to change my flight up a few days, so that I can work this week-end; I really don't want to lose my job the moment I return to Saint Louis.  It feels now as if they are finding ways to get me into trouble.  I mean, who calls someone on vacation in another country over a reservation?  Ridiculous.  I wrote my manager an e-mail explaining the situation on the reservation, and also threw in that I was returning early, so hopefully he'll respond and it'll be a positive one.  We'll see, fingers are crossed.  I need this job - I have $60 to my name!!  It's hard living paycheck to paycheck because you can't afford being out of work.

London has been great.  Sleeping every night and waking up every morning with Asthika is really what I needed after my long, stressful semester.  Plus, we hadn't seen eachother since February - and three months was beginning to feel like a really long time.  I'm not sure what I'm going to do after August, because we haven't talked about any visits until I come over in December.  I'll be teaching every day, so it isn't as if I can just take off for a few days, you know?

Asthika and I have been eating delicious food all week.  Tonight we're having Indian and it will be *divine* ....  mmmmmm.

So much work, I don't know where to start.

I am dropping my Japanese history course because I have too much on my plate.  I'll need to pick up a non-US/European history course sometime down the road, which will most likely be this fall, which means Arabic gets put on hold.  Oh the things I do to finish this program so I can get back to my man!
  • I am looking at the rest of my semester's work that needs to be finished:
  • lesson plan on civil rights for presentation in my american government course
  • lesson plan on geography for my observation grade over at FHS
  • lesson plans for my unit on genocide, clean up some, make others...
  • comprehensive end of year american government final exam (writing it, not taking it)
  • economics assignment #3 (jesus...)
  • and four quizzes, only discussion board posting, and a final exam.

Where to start?  I've been saying this for over an hour now, and am making myself try to forget about it by watching Susan Boyle sing one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite musicals.

I'm actually very much looking forward to this summer.  I am taking two courses - one on Western Civilisation since 1750, and one on teaching world history in the secondary classroom.  I'll need to take my Praxis II exam, and put together my electronic (and paper?) teaching porfolio.  Annnnnnnnnnnnnd make my American government course for next semester - freshman level.  ICK ICK ICK, and work full time.  Do I ever get a break?  I cannot wait for my trip this December to Sri Lanka with A because it's going to be nothing but relaxation!!!!!!!!!!!
